Trina had a dream to become a professional apparel designer when she was very young, and she grabbed every opportunity that came her way to make her dream come true. Trina was born in California and grew up in Washington under the guidance of her mother. She was just 11 years old when she learned to sew clothes. She completed her studies from the University of Washington and earned her credentials in fashion design. She worked for a Seattle-based sportswear manufacturer, Britannia Jeans that was a stepping stone to her designing career. She gained her knowledge of printed fabrics in 1980 while designing for Ocean Pacific surfwear.
Trina Turk launched her own brand in 1995 and Trina Turk, the company was founded. Jonathan Skow (her husband) and Lyne Lee were also partners in the venture. Trina Turk propelled the charts of success with her every collection. The company sales went up to 16 million in 2001 and every year the business expanded by opening up production centers in California, Los Angeles, and New York. Trina Turk also won The Fashion Achievement Award at the LA Fashion Awards in 2005. Trina Turk swimwear collection is known for amazing fits and designs.
